The being of the Being, 2023

The digital portraits are a combination of self-portraits and portraits of others. The multi-layered portraits explore the depth and complexity of what constitutes a person. The works focus on the emotional layers of a being and Heidegger’s phenomena of the worldliness of the Being. In this case, the worldliness of the Being explores the emotional world of a being filled with suffering and trauma. These experiences contribute to the formation of a person. Some people carry their pain on their sleeves, whereas others’ pain is hidden underneath layers. Finding the truth about a person is a strenuous task; however, we relate with others in the subconscious and that connection, whether with the self or others, is where we see the raw beauty of pain.
